Youtube has been flooded with Let Plays and breakdowns of the latest and greatest video games. Lethal Company has sold over ten million copies since its release in late 2023. It’s a multiplayer game with only two goals: gather scrap and survive. This simple concept works in its favor, as the layout of the maps is constantly changing, the weather can affect your gameplay, and enemies each have unique challenges. Lethal Company is a testament to simple, well-thought-out ideas that create an audience.

Lethal Company has a low poly look that works in its favor. With less to distract your eyes, you are forced to listen, which is crucial for survival in this game. Listening for enemies can be the difference between life and death, as any second wasted could be the reason for your demise. Communicating with your teammates is the best strategy to stay one step ahead of the monster you encounter, but be aware they are also listening for you.

The game never feels unfair, though, as your decisions, or lack thereof, get you killed. Each enemy has a workaround or weakness that leaves you or your teammates responsible for any failures. Lethal Company is just that – lethal, but it is also fair. You need this in a game where dying is the norm, and you will die a lot.

Modern Warfare 3 was released at the same time as Lethal Company, but there was no competition for this small indie game. This proves that money and manpower hold nothing over inspiration and creativity. The release of unfinished triple-A games was seen time and again in 2023 and is a trend at this point. Starfield and Suicide Squad are examples of big companies putting out games with a price that is an insult to what is delivered. So instead, buy Lethal Company, as Zeekerss deserves the $9.99 it’s priced at.
